MILLSAP MATTERS: Mobile dairy coming to town

By SHARRON HUDSON

MILLSAP – In springtime we think of getting outside and enjoying the things of nature. That’s what Millsap elementary students will be doing Monday in an educational setting.

A mobile dairy will be coming to the campus, sponsored by the Parker County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. The unit is provided by Southwest Dairy Farmers and includes a milking parlor and cow. There will be a presentation about various aspects of the dairy industry. Students will learn all of this in an outdoor environment while experiencing a program that includes math, science, health and agriculture. What a great way to open new horizons for the youngsters.

Sunday, March 30, was a special day for a special lady of the Cool community. It was Barbara Rothrock Appreciation Day at Millsap United Methodist Church and Holders Chapel. This was a surprise event for Mrs. Rothrock and began with a brunch at Millsap Methodist. Barbara was recognized for being a church pianist for more than 50 years, starting this ministry as she entered her teens. The church congregations showered her with cards, plants, and gift cards to thank her for the many years of faithful service.

In addition to serving churches in this capacity, Mrs. Rothrock has been involved in a number of other ministries across the years, retired from a career of teaching in the Millsap ISD, and diligently serves on the Cool City Council. She also runs Rothrock’s Vegetable Stand with her husband, Jim.  This well-deserving lady fully enjoyed the day with family members sharing it with her. Congratulations, Barbara, on this honor.

We are getting ready ofor a fun evening Monday with a spaghetti supper and Donkey Basketball sponsored by our high school girls basketball team. This will all take place at the high school with the supper beginning at 5:30 p.m. for $5 per person. The donkey basketball starts at 7 p.m. and there are two games. In game one it’s boys athletics vs. the coaches, and in game two it’s girls athletics vs. the staff. Tickets are available at all Millsap ISD offices and are $6 in advance or $8 at the door. This will be a great evening, so come join in the fun!
