MILLSAP MATTERS: Welcoming new postal employees

WEATHERFORD —

Life is busily rolling along in Millsap despite the hot weather. One thing that is a part of daily life everywhere is mail, and our post office has some new employees.

Our new postmaster is Jennifer Pope, who grew up in our area. She now makes her home in Mineral Wells. The new clerk is Glenda Pabalate and she lives in Lake Worth. Both women transferred from the Springtown post office, and have commented that the slower pace of this post office is enjoyable. Welcome to Millsap, Jennifer and Glenda!

Millsap resident Fred Buchanan celebrated his 80th birthday with a surprise party at the Millsap Community Center recently. Around 40 family members and friends joined together to wish Fred a happy birthday. This fellow is a retired train engineer and loves living in Millsap right across from the tracks so he can see and hear all of the trains as they pass through. Hope Fred enjoys his 80th year greatly!

Word has been received of the passing of Naomia Israel Ford, who was known by many of our senior people as a Millsap graduate from the 1940’s. She reached the age of 93 and is survived by a sister, Eula Mae Phillips.

Midpoint Chapel will be partnering with Eleventh Avenue Church, Mineral Wells for vacation Bible school July 28 - Aug. 1. The theme is Kingdom Chronicles and all ages are invited. VBS takes place from 6-8:30 p.m., with supper served every evening. There will be Bible lessons, crafts, games and music. The location is 2312 South FM 113, Millsap, and for questions call (940)682-4436. Everyone is welcome!

The Millsap Cemetery Association will have their annual meeting on July 13 at Millsap City Hall. Starting at 2 p.m., items on the agenda will include officer elections, the cemetery pavilion project and the historical marker project.

A reminder the Poe Prairie Cemetery Association will have their Annual Business Meeting on July 19. The event will take place at the cemetery at 6 p.m. After the meeting there will be an ice cream supper and music.

With school starting in the near future, there are employment opportunities at Millsap ISD. Positions posted include coach, counselor, teacher, bus driver and custodian. Hope this helps someone get a job.

Stay cool and thank you for reading!
