MILLSAP MATTERS: Special yard sale benefits special boy from Millsap

(Continued)

There are several dates for Millsap parents and students to remember including Aug. 12. Beginning at 9 a.m. Middle school and high school students can pick up their schedules. New middle school students can also register on Aug. 12 and high school students can conduct the business of paying various school fees. Aug. 16 is freshmen and new student orientation beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the high school. At the elementary school, Aug. 22 is Meet the Teacher Night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The days of no schedules in summer are about to come to an end, so hope the parents and kids enjoy the remainder of these days!

In sad news, local parents Bryan and Stormie Cameron lost their newborn son at birth. Logan Scott Cameron was born July 30 and was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery on Aug. 3. He is survived by a large extended family, many from the Millsap area, including great-grandparents Ed and Millie Cameron. Sympathy to this young couple and the whole family on their loss.

One Millsap alum is currently at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in San Diego, Calif., taking basic training. Jonathan Cribbs left to officially begin his military career as a Marine on Aug. 5 and will be at the San Diego location for 13 weeks. He is the son of proud parents John and Stephanie Brents. This is a very intensive time for the recruits and we wish Jonathan well in this endeavor.

For those interested in wildlife, remember the annual wildlife workshop sponsored by Walden’s Farm and Ranch Supply. It is Aug. 20 at the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Posse Building, 1300 FM Road 1821, in Mineral Wells.

The evening will start at 6:30 p.m. with a meal and the speakers will begin at 7 p.m. There will be door prizes, coupons and specials throughout the evening and the event is free to the public. You need to RSVP to reserve your spot by Aug. 17 by calling 940-325-8500 or going on Walden’s website and filling out the form. This is sure to be an informative and enjoyable evening.
