MILLSAP MATTERS: Millsap firefighters stay busy making station improvements

MILLSAP – Millsap VFD has been busy recently making improvements around the fire station. The firefighters replaced old light fixtures, finished inside plumbing projects, and put shelves in a new storage container.

The organization is also busy preparing for spring storm season, which includes testing the emergency warning siren.

The group has been invited to a Firefighters Appreciation Dinner in early April, sponsored by ESD 7. With all of the work the group does to help in so many ways, may they enjoy this well deserved dinner.

Precinct 3 workers invite area residents on April 5 to bring trash to the facility located at 1111 FM Road 1189, Weatherford. Hours for the day are 8 a.m.-3 p.m., with proof of Parker County residency a requirement.

Items that will not be accepted are roofing materials, wet paint, hazardous chemicals, and weed killers. Precinct 3 workers are glad to provide this service, so let’s take advantage of the opportunity to make our area cleaner.

The Millsap Neighborhood Ladies Home and Garden Club is looking forward to a very busy meeting in April. Right now they are reviewing applications for their scholarship recipients and the scholarships will be announced at the meeting. The group will plan their Annual Out and About Day, which always includes a trip to interesting sights around the area and a delicious lunch. The women will also make sure plans are on track for the baked potatoes that they plan to sell at Millsap’s Log Cabin Days on May 10.  All ladies are welcome to the meeting, which will be Wednesday, April 2, beginning around 10:30 a.m. at the Millsap Community Center.

Walden Farm and Ranch Supply invites everyone interested in chickens to the Millsap store’s Family Flock Nutrition & Management Seminar on Saturday, March 29. Beginning at 10 a.m. the presentation will take place at 201 Fairview Road. If you register for the seminar on the store website your family will be given two free chicks.
