MILLSAP MATTERS: Holiday celebrations continue in, around town

At a recent Millsap ISD board meeting, Chessley W. Faulkenberry received an honorary high school diploma. Mr. Faulkenberry’s high school education was interrupted as he was drafted into the military in 1954. He honorably served and, after discharge, eventually earned his GED. He attended Weatherford College plus has taken many other varied courses throughout the years. Mr. Faulkenberry has taught A/C technology at Weatherford College and had a great career with Hobson Air Conditioning. He has a wonderful family, having married Caroline Watkins, of Garner, who is a Millsap graduate. Millsap ISD has come to recognize that there were quite a few men from this area who had to halt their education to serve in World War II. As a result, the district is following protocol to begin presenting these veterans with their high school diplomas. Congratulations, Mr. Faulkenberry, on this well-deserved honor.

Word has been received of the passing of Bennett resident Ethel Bennett Rehfeldt. Mrs. Rehfeldt was a descendent of two pioneer Fort Worth families, and her grandfather, George Bennett, was the founder of Acme Brick Company. She was married for 61 years to Dr. Fred Rehfeldt, who preceded her in death. An accomplished horsewoman and world traveler, Mrs. Rehfeldt and her husband enjoyed retirement years at their beloved Rancho Mesita, in Bennett. She leaves behind son, Fredrick E. Rehfeldt, and daughter, Ethel DeMarr, and a multitude of other family members.

Volunteers of the Millsap First Baptist Church Helping Hands Food Pantry send out a big thank you to everyone who gave items to help families who came for Thanksgiving groceries.

In a community effort there were Thanksgiving meal items plus other groceries provided for 18 families. This was an amazing time for the volunteers as even children had been fostered to send bags with a couple of food items in them to share with those in need.
