MILLSAP MATTERS: Many events planned for summer

WEATHERFORD —

With school out for the summer folks are planning all kinds of fun activities. One new event around here is the 1st Annual Millsap Maroon Crew BBQ and Chili Cook off Competition.

This one day event is sponsored through Millsap ISD and will be taking place on June 14 behind the high school tennis courts. Categories are chicken, beans, ribs, chili and dessert. The entry fee is $150, and entry information and forms are available at millsapisd.net. For questions call (817)994-1533. What a wonderful event for our community!

The Millsap Neighborhood Ladies Home and Garden Club had a great time at their recent meeting. The theme of the day was “Tea Party.” The decorations featured all kinds of unique tea pots. For added fun the ladies wore their favorite tea party hats. This was the first time the club had the pleasure of a tea time together, and it was very much enjoyed. All ladies are invited to the club which meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Millsap Community Center. The women begin to gather around 10:30 a.m. and enjoy lunch and interesting programs. They also do a lot of volunteer and charitable work that benefits our area.

Some of the churches in these parts will soon be having Vacation Bible School. Beulah Baptist will have theirs June 8-12 from 6-8:30 p.m. The church is located at 350 Beulah Lane, Millsap. Millsap First Baptist, 209 Locust Street, will have VBS June 9-13, 6-8:40 p.m. It is for 4 years of age through 6th grade. There will be recreation, drama, crafts, music and food. These are great ways for kids to spend some summer time.

Graduation ceremony for Millsap seniors was held May 31 at the high school. Special recognition goes to valedictorian Jessica Walker and salutatorian Adrianna Arroyo. Congratulations to all of the graduates and their families on this milestone.

The Parker County Abandoned Cemetery Association will hold its Annual Meeting on June 28, at 10 a.m. at the Weatherford Library, 1014 Charles Street. Anyone interested in participating in the association is invited to attend.

Be careful in the hot temperatures, and I appreciate all of you readers!
