MILLSAP – What a busy month this is with everything that springtime brings! One group that is celebrating a wonderful accomplishment is our local Girl Scout Troop 8457.

With a lot of hard work the girls and their leaders had a very successful cookie sale. The group had some specific goals in mind that included paying for their troop registration next year, paying for this years patches, donating needed items to the school, and taking an overnight trip to the zoo.

Like many other troops they set up at various locations and did amazingly well with sales. Through sale proceeds the scouts were able to donate 72 boxes of cookies to military men and women. Congratulations on a job well done and may the entire troop enjoy the fruits of their labors.

As always the food pantry sponsored by the Millsap First Baptist Church has been very busy. The pantry helped 67 families between November and February. At present there is special need for protein in a can. Examples include tuna, spam, chili, chicken, peanut butter and soup. The pantry is open each Tuesday, 8:30-10 a.m. on the east end of the church. There are always very kind volunteers available to help unload donations. Hunger is an ongoing problem across the nation, so please help as often as possible. The pantry volunteers and recipients will appreciate your generosity.

Walden Farm and Ranch Supply has announced that their spring Consignment Auction of Farm and Ranch Equipment is Saturday, May 3. For those who want to consign do it early for advertising. As is the tradition the Millsap Neighborhood Ladies Home and Garden Club will have a bake sale on the grounds, so you can come and buy anything from a cookie to a tractor.

The Millsap Heritage Society will be hosting Log Cabin Days on Saturday, May 10, and everyone is invited to a day of shopping, food and entertainment. In that vein, the group is renting booth spaces for the event. The fee is $20 for a booth space, or $25 if electricity is needed. This is always a highlight of the year for the entire area, so plan on joining us for a great time.

Folks from Midpoint Chapel are looking forward to a visit from Ken Kemper, president of Grace Bible College, Grand Rapids, Mich.
