MILLSAP MATTERS: 30th annual Peach Festival

WEATHERFORD —

With summer upon us many are making preparations to attend the 30th Annual Parker County Peach Festival. Publicity and plans are well underway for this event.

As always, the festival will take place in historic Weatherford. The date has been set for July 12, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be vendors with art, crafts and activities. A Kids Korner will provide lots of fun for the young ones, and there will be a variety of live entertainment. There will be plenty of the famous peaches available, and probably lots of cobbler and shakes will be made with the delectable fruit. The Peach Pedal Bike Ride will be a big part of the day. Tickets for adults are $5 and kids 12 and under are free. Advance tickets for $4 may be purchased at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, 401 Fort Worth Hwy., Weatherford 76086. Mark your calendars for this event and go have some peachy fun!

In church news, Soda Springs Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School June 26-28. The time on June 26-27 is 6-8:30 p.m. The event will be held 9 a.m.-noon on June 28. The church is located at 1801 Soda Springs Road, Millsap. If you have questions, call (940)682-9229. This congregation hosts many wonderful events, so be sure to check this one out for the kids.

The church family of Midpoint Chapel recently returned from their yearly camp near Binger, Oklahoma. There were five churches from Texas and Oklahoma represented at the event. There was lots of Bible study, many activities, delicious food and wonderful fellowship. A great time was had by all and many are already looking forward to next year’s camp!

Let’s take a quick look into the busy summers of two home grown celebrities. Singer Casey James is working on new music with mention of a new album on the horizon. James recently played to a soldout crowd at a benefit for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. He is going to make a big splash later this summer at the Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City, Florida. Summers are really this performer’s time as he toured with Taylor Swift’s Red last summer.
