A Weatherford resident died following a motorcycle crash Friday night north of Weatherford.

DPS troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash around 10:20 p.m.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Ellis Creek Road, three miles northeast of Weatherford, at a speed that was unsafe,” DPS Staff Sgt. Ricky Hunter said. “The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a brick mailbox in the east barrow ditch.”

Antonio H. Gutierrez, 63, who was driving, and 41-year-old passenger Julia A. Smith were thrown from the bike, according to DPS.

Both were transported to Medical City Weatherford.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to DPS.

Smith reportedly sustained injuries though her condition Monday was not reported.
