Firefighters were able to save some personal items for a Willow Park family who lost their home to a fire Saturday afternoon.
The fire that destroyed the home in the 100 block of Northchase Drive is believed to have burned for some time unnoticed before a passerby saw the fire and called 911 around 3:30 p.m.
Though Willow Park Fire/Rescue’s response time was fast, the fire was already through the roof when firefighters arrived, according to Willow Park Fire Chief Brent Sauble.
The two residents were not home at the time.
The fire caused heavy damage to the home but firefighters were able to save several valuables, according to Sauble.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is believed to have possibly been due to an electrical issue in the attic, according to Sauble.
Firefighters from Weatherford, Aledo and Silver Creek departments also assisted.
