Murder suspect arrested in Parker County

By CHRISTIN COYNE

AZLE – A suspect accused of killing an Azle man Wednesday night was arrested Thursday night in Parker County.

After a day-long investigation, detectives tracked 20-year-old Christopher Adam Osborne to the 600 block of New Hope Drive near Reno, where the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Metro Fugitive Unit arrested him after a foot pursuit through a hay field, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Osborne was wanted for the death of 31-year-old Gabriel Richardson, who died Wednesday night after a shooting in the 13000 block of Briar Road in northwest Tarrant County.

The motive for the shooting was still under investigation, sheriff’s office spokesman Terry Grisham said Friday.

The property owner said the Osborne and Richardson had been in a physical altercation at the residence the day prior and Richardson left saying “this ain’t over between us,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

Richardson returned the property owner’s truck Wednesday night and got into an argument with Osborne on the property, the sheriff’s office reported.

During the argument, Osborne came out of the residence with the property owner’s 30-30 rifle, according to witnesses, and shot Richardson in the chest from several feet away, according to a sheriff’s office detective.

Witnesses put Richardson in the back of a pickup and brought him to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle, where a doctor pronounced him dead shortly before 11:30 p.m.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Richardson’s death a homicide caused by a high-velocity gunshot wound to the chest.

The rifle was recovered at another location after, deputies believe, it was taken away from the scene by one of the witnesses, according to Grisham.

Two bystanders injured by bullet fragments were also taken to the hospital by private vehicle, treated and released. One of the those injured has a more serious injury, though it was not considered life-threatening, Grisham said.

In addition to the murder charge, detectives have also charged Osborne with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the injury to the bystander, according to Grisham.

Detectives obtained information leading them to Osborne, and he was arrested around 10:45 p.m. Thursday night after he reportedly attempted to flee deputies on foot.

Bond was initially set at $25,000 on the murder charge but was expected to increase.
