Parker and surrounding counties are included in a winter storm warning in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday to noon Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Accumulations of sleet, ice and snow are expected to begin Sunday morning along and west of a line from Sherman to Dallas to Lampassas. The accumulations of sleet, ice and snow are expected to impact travel on all the roads within the winter storm warning area.
A period of freezing rain Sunday night could cause icing accumulations on trees and power lines that could result in power outages.
People within the winter storm warning area are urged to use caution, be prepared and avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.
Up to 1 inch of sleet and one-half inch of ice are possible in the Parker County area.
Sunday’s high is expected to begin at 32 degrees and fall during the day to a low of 27 degrees Monday morning.
