Benefit at Fire Oak Grill for area teen battling rare disease

Weatherford Democrat

— Fire Oak Grill, in downtown Weatherford, next Wednesday will host a fundraiser for teenager Briggs Berry and his family to help the 17-year-old raise money as he prepares for a bone marrow transplant later this month.

Briggs has a rare condition called X-linked hyper IgM, better known as Immune Deficiency Condition, and lost a brother, Tyler, to the same condition.

The event will include live music from Kristi Kalyn and Katy Keenie from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drink specials all evening in the bar area. Ten percent of bar sales that evening will be donated to Briggs and his family.

Briggs’ story has drawn the attention of Metroplex sports figures including DeMarcus Ware, Dez Bryant and Mark Cuban.
