Teeing it up for county’s abused, neglected kids

Fore-the-Kids Golf Tourney set for April 25

The second annual Fore-the-Kids Golf Tournament, hosted by CASA of Palo Pinto & Parker Counties, is set for Thursday, April 25, at the Canyon West Golf Course.

The tournament is being organized by the Friends of CASA group. This fundraising event will see teams compete for top prizes, including a trophy for each of the top three teams, a longest drive trophy, and a closest-to-the-pin trophy.

The tournament begins with lunch at noon, sponsored by Chicken Express. Shotgun start for play is at 1 p.m. The dinner, sponsored by Fire Oak Grill, will be at the conclusion of the tournament. Awards and door prizes will be handed out following dinner.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, ranging from a $2,500 platinum sponsor to a $25 CASA Pals sponsor. Currently, top sponsors are Jerry’s GM and First Financial Bank. There is also room for more teams to play the 18-hole course. A team of four is $400 and an individual player is $100.

Contact Connie at 817-599-6224 in Weatherford, or Michelle, at 940-597-3215 in Mineral Wells, for information on the list of sponsorships or to sign up a team or person.

There are volunteer opportunities for the CASA advocates and families as well , ranging from set up, clean-up, working the registration tables, handing out door prizes, and general help.

CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) provides screened and specially trained volunteers who represent and serve as advocates for children removed from their homes during a Child Protective Services investigation.

CASA is a non-profit organization that receives funding through United Way, grants and community fundraisers.
