It’s a rockin’ Christmas Saturday at Texas Opry Theater

The Texas Opry Theater presents A Rockin ‘n’ Rollin’ Christmas Special at 3 p.m. Saturday at the York Avenue venue.

Johnny Rogers (Buddy And Beyond), Michael Hix (Wild Man Hix) and newcomer Abbey Cone from the Grapevine Opry debut with the Parker County Zonta Club co-sponsoring the event.

Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling 817-341-1000.

Even though weather reports do not sound good for Friday and Saturday, the theater will be nice and warm with the staff at the Opry ready to make your Saturday afternoon memorable with a Christmas show to remember and make you glad you got out and chanced the winter weather.

Johnny Rogers was at the Opry in June of this year with his Buddy and Beyond Tribute to Buddy Holly and many other rock-n-roll legends of the 1950s and ‘60s. Johnny sold out the theater and left the patrons asking for more. So Johnny is back with more rock and roll fun and some Christmas songs, too. Johnny is so versatile that you never know who he will be portraying next. Johnny will be here from the windy city of Chicago where he is no stranger to a lot more snow and ice than most of us Texans see in a lifetime.

If you attended the Connie Smith Show in October, you were treated to a grand performance by Michael Hix. Many say he stole the show. Hix will treat you to some of his favorite Motown magic and jazz classics while he moonwalks all over the stage and into the audience. It is rumored that his rendition of the “12 Days of Christmas” will leave you begging for more.

Planning to attend Saturday’s show are 40-plus members of the Burleson Church of Christ.

Abbey Cone is an up and coming 14-year-old singer from the Grapevine Opry and well on her way to stardom. She will be competing in one of the 2014 reality-based TV shows in the coming months. You may be able to say someday soon that you heard her sing at the Texas Opry Theater in Weatherford just before she became a big singing’ star.
