Annual Pink Luncheon again a sold-out event

Thanking Parker County residents for their support, the Parker County Health Foundation on Tuesday said the Pink Luncheon 2013 is, once again, a sold-out event.

The Pink Luncheon was formed out of the need to fund mammograms and screenings for the under-served women of Parker County who otherwise would go without a life-saving screening.

Hundreds of women have been screened since the inception of the Pink Luncheon in 2006. The annual event impacts families all over Parker County, and 100 percent of the Pink Luncheon proceeds stay in the county.

The 2013 Pink Luncheon is Oct. 11 at Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford. Every year the Pink Luncheon has grown, and this year’s event has been sold out since early summer. The attendees will enjoy a great program with co-host Karen Borta, KTVT Channel 11 news anchor, and Brent Baker, vice president of Institutional Advancement at Weatherford College, along with special vocalist Beverly Branch, Careity Foundation. The lunch will be topped off with Ultimate Cupcakes and a great goodie bag filled by our generous sponsors.

Leslie Mouton, guest speaker and an inspirational motivational woman who has touched lives all across the country, is an anchor and reporter at KSAT-12 in San Antonio. She has covered many stories during her career, but in October 2000 she began reporting on the most important story of her life – her own.

At the age of 35, she discovered a lump in her left breast during a monthly self-exam. That lump turned out to be cancer. Rather than hide and wallow in self-pity, she decided to confront her cancer with cameras up close and personal. Her entire battle is on tape for the public to see. Surgery, chemotherapy, hair loss, radiation – a private battle – made public in hopes of helping other women.

Leslie will inspire women with her life’s story. Leslie’s family, Air Force pilot Maj. Tony “Maddog” Mattox, and daughter, Nicole, have been, and continue to be, her strength and support through her battle with cancer as a survivor.
