MEET THE CANDIDATE: Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace candidate Anne-Marie Hollis

The WD recently sent questionnaires to the candidates in contested county races in the March 4 primary elections. The candidates were asked to provide background information and answers, in 300 words or less, to questions posed to them. Early voting begins Feb. 18. Today we look at the four Republican primary candidates for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3. There is no Democratic opponent.

Name: Anne-Marie Hollis

Age: 44

Occupation: Parker County Sheriff’s law enforcement officer.

Family: spouse John Hollis (18 years); four grown children – youngest son is in the Marines stationed in Afghanistan. We also raised two nieces and a nephew and have two grandchildren with one on the way.

Educational background: Weatherford middle school and high school; National Education Center–1992 Medical Assistant; Weatherford College–Police Academy Peace Officer License; law enforcement field training officer; certified law enforcement TCLEOSE instructor; Austin Texas Department of Public Safety Academy–Advanced Fingerprint Comparison; Tarrant County Sheriff’s Academy–homicide investigations, child abuse prevention and death investigation, financial/computer crimes investigations, juvenile investigations; Grand Prairie Police Academy–advanced crime scene investigations; Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations–crime scene reconstruction; Reids Interview & Technique–interview and interrogation; Florida  Department of Public Safety–computer crimes and forensics.

  • Woman hit on interstate identified

    A woman killed early Friday morning while walking on Interstate 30 near the Parker - Tarrant county line has been identified as 29-year-old Ashley Wright of Weatherford, according to information released Saturday by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

    A woman, who had not been identified as of Friday afternoon, was killed early Friday morning while walking on Interstate 30 near the Parker - Tarrant county line, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

    As part of an ongoing discussion, the City of Weatherford Municipal Utilities Board Thursday was taken through part two of the rate-making process for the city’s proposed capital improvement plan. The result of this plan will have a direct impact on utility rates for city customers.

    The Weatherford fire marshal says a fire that damaged a house and killed two puppies Wednesday night is being investigated as a suspicious fire and a suspect is in jail on unrelated charges.

  • City to transfer bond funds to cover street project

    Per the recommendations of City of Weatherford staff, the Weatherford City Council Tuesday approved an ordinance amending the fiscal year 2014 budget to transfer monies from various bond funds into the general capital improvement projects fund. The reallocation of funds are from bonds designated to various street construction projects and will be consolidated into one more street construction project: the access road between Bethel Road and South Bowie Dr.

  • Richard Adams Sr. Firefighter arrested on child sex assault charges

    A volunteer Hudson Oaks firefighter is in the Parker County Jail on charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted two young relatives over a several year period. 

    Richard Frederick Adams Sr., 62, arrested Monday, faces two charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, a first-degree felony.
