WEATHERFORD —

A second woman involved in a head-on crash south of Weatherford Wednesday afternoon has died.

Kimberly Witt, 53, of Weatherford, died at John Peter Smith Hospital around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to information from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The wreck occurred on FM Road 51 south of Mountain View Drive around 1:40 p.m.

According to DPS spokesman Sgt. Lonny Haschel, a tire failure caused a Ford F-350 traveling southbound on FM 51 to cross into the northbound lane and strike a Toyota Camry head on.

Fe Santistevan, 68, a passenger in the Camry and believed to be a neighbor of Witt’s, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 2 p.m.

Witt, who was driving the Camry, was flown to JPS for serious injuries and later died.

The truck came to rest upside down on the east side of the road. The pickup driver, Jennifer Cristantielli, 35, of Weatherford, was wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured, according to DPS.

However, a 7-year-old female passenger in the truck was reported flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Democrat was unable to obtain an update on her condition early Thursday.

The crash remained under investigation Thursday, according to Haschel.
