Change at the top, return of Sunday color comics begin today

The Weatherford Democrat in recent weeks has been striving to respond to reader comments and make changes based on those comments in order to better serve and represent our customers and communities.

For instance, recently we switched back to Sunday, rather than Saturday, delivery of the weekend paper. We continue to gather and pore over comments being provided in responses to a reader’s survey published recently in the Democrat and our Parker County Shopper.

One of the changes suggested by more than one reader was a return of color Sunday comics. That is an easy request to fulfill, so beginning inside today’s edition we gladly put the color back in the Sunday funnies. Enjoy, and thanks for the suggestion.

Another change in your local newspaper is one that is happening at the top – of the front page. If you haven’t yet noticed, there is a change in the newspaper’s name. No, not the name itself. We have been the Weatherford Democrat since the paper rolled out its first edition in 1895. The change is in the presentation of the paper’s name, one we think better reflects who we are as a community and one we hope many readers will like. This change will be seen in new logos as we make that transition across all of our product platforms.

While we are placing more emphasis on the “Weatherford” part of our nameplate, we want to make clear we are dedicated to serving all of Weatherford and Parker County as the county’s only daily newspaper.

Know, too, we are not done. Expect more positive changes in the coming days and weeks as we continue to listen, and respond, to you and your suggestions. We thank all the advertisers, subscribers and  readers of the Weatherford Democrat – be it the print, web or mobile editions, Your Family magazine, the Parker County Shopper or one of our other community news and information products and please keep the feedback coming.
