‘You’ll never, ever hurt me again’

Woman charged with killing husband reportedly makes comments to neighbor

A Parker County woman accused of killing her husband Monday told a neighbor he was beating her so she shot him, according to court records released Wednesday.

Katherine Kerr Kuehner, 53, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 51-year-old Curtis Wayne Kuehner, whose death was ruled by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner a homicide as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, neck and chest.

In the background of a 911 call made by a neighbor in the 3000 block of Sunshine Trail around 3 p.m. Monday who said Kuehner was with him, a female can be heard saying, “He will never hit me again,” according to a search warrant affidavit.

Asked by the neighbor where the gun was, Kuehner reportedly said, “It’s laying on the [expletive] fireplace, where I shot the [expletive] ... you’ll never, ever hurt me again.”

Curtis Kuehner’s body was found lying on the living room floor of the home in the 3000 block of Dusk Drive between the couch and fireplace.

When deputies made contact with the suspect they reportedly smelled alcohol and noted that “Katherine Kuehner was belligerent, combative and had slurred speech,” a deputy wrote. She reportedly admitted to shooting her husband and was taken into custody.

Texas Ranger Tony Bradford attempted to interview her but noted other signs of possible intoxication and observed sudden outbursts of anger and mood swings.

Sheriff’s investigators said Katherine Kuehner appeared to have injuries consistent with having been involved in a recent physical altercation and a black eye is apparent in a Monday jail photo of Kuehner.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home, where two firearms and bloody bedding were reported seized as evidence, and to obtain a sample of Katherine Kuehner’s blood for analysis.

Kuehner was released Wednesday evening from the Parker County Jail after posting $100,000 bond.

Deputies responded to two domestic disturbance calls at the couple’s residence since 2010 but the individuals did not want to cooperate with deputies and declined to press charges, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.
