Three indicted in steel bar beating

By CHRISTIN COYNE

A Parker County grand jury indicted three people accused of beating a man with a steel bar during a Christmas Day robbery.

Rachelle Deann Martin, 23, Ryan Edward Cox, 23, and Robert Sisomphone, 30, were each indicted on a charge of aggravated robbery.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said that Martin requested a loan from the 55-year-old victim prior to the robbery and is believed to have helped arrange the robbery.

The man reported to deputies that he was ambushed while sitting in his truck in his driveway in the 1700 block of Flatrock Road in Azle on Christmas Day.

Two men he did not know reportedly smashed his window and struck him above the left eye five to seven times with a steel bar, according to a Parker County sheriff’s report.

As the victim was lying face down in his driveway, the men took prescription medication and the victim’s wallet, including two debit cards, a credit card and check, according to the sheriff’s office.

Tarrant County jail records indicate Sisomphone has been charged with another aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance and is being held on more than $290,000 bond.

Tarrant County jail records show Cox is also charged with parole violation, two other charges of aggravated robbery, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Bond has been set at more than $340,000 for Cox, who remained in the Tarrant County Jail as of Tuesday.

A man accused of pulling a knife on a convenience store clerk during a failed robbery attempt Jan. 24 was also indicted Thursday.

Marcus Allhoff Nast, 17, was indicted on a charge of aggravated robbery. Nast remains in the Parker County Jail with bond set at $50,000.

More charges

Other indictments Thursday included:

• Michael Balderas, theft of property, less than $20,000.

• Rodney Franklin Clinkscale, possession of a controlled substance, more than 28 grams, less than 200 grams.
