Burglary arrest leads to stolen weapons recovery

Parker County law enforcement Thursday tracked down and arrested a man accused of burglarizing his father’s house and stealing many items, including 21 guns, numerous pieces of jewelry, and power tools.

According to Parker County sheriff’s investigators, Christopher Jacob Hettick, 25, of Azle, was named as a possible suspect in a residential burglary in the 400 block of Valley View Drive that was reported March 25.

Hettick’s father noticed that Hettick’s own go-cart was missing after the burglary, as well as a Dr. Pepper from the fridge, something Hettick was reportedly known to enjoy, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The man’s father reportedly told deputies that he had evicted Hettick and his girlfriend a month prior.

The day following news coverage of the burglary, a witness reportedly contacted the sheriff’s office and picked out Hettick as the burglar during a photo line-up and provided a description of a dark-colored SUV seen in the driveway on the morning of the burglary with a go-cart tied on top of the vehicle, according to court records.

After the Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained a warrant for Hettick’s arrest, the Weatherford-Parker County Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team found Hettick staying at an East Lancaster Avenue hotel in Fort Worth on Thursday.

A portion of the weapons were located at the hotel, according to the sheriff’s office. Additional guns were recovered at a nearby residence and area pawn shops, along with ammunition, a knife, jewelry, motorcycle parts, iPads and computers, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the victims had a large amount of items stolen, making it difficult for them to account for everything at the time the report was taken until investigators recovered the items.

Hettick was arrested on a warrant for second-degree felony burglary of a habitation.

Hettick – who also had 11 other warrants, including many related to bond violations – was held without bond in Parker County Jail as of Saturday afternoon.
