Jenny Barnwell, Parker County’s new treasurer, officially assumed her new office during a swearing in ceremony held Friday evening in the historic Parker County Courthouse.
“I’m very excited to be appointed, and I thank all of you here,” Barnwell said after taking the oath of office, administered by County Clerk Jeane Brunson.
“Your support was overwhelming, and I’ll never forget that. I’ll need it again next year when I run for office.”
During the ceremony, Brunson introduced the elected officials in attendance: County Attorney John Forrest, Judge Ben Akers, Commissioner Craig Peacock, Republican Chair Zan Prince and Judge Craig Towson.
The invocation was given by Earl King. Chief Deputy Dawn Norfleet led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Deputy Becky McCullough led the Pledge to the Texas Flag.
