Granbury LIVE reunion played to large audience at Texas Opry

Buddy Holly tribute show coming in June

Last Saturday night at The Texas Opry Theater the former Granbury Live Band performed its “Reunion Show” with most of the cast and band.

Among the performers were “The Man of 1,000 Voices” Sean Mitchell, emcee/comedian/singer Zac Wilson, “The Blue-Eyed Fiddler” Mike Echols and Alecia “Princess” Echols, all backed by original band members Roger Ramsey on bass guitar, Christian Hutton on lead guitar, Joe Tom McDonald on keyboards and Josh Rodgers on drums. The show consisted of 1950’s and ‘60s class reunion songs of rock-and-roll, country and comedy.

Many in the audience were loyal patrons of The Granbury Live Theater during its 10 years in Granbury. More came from Weatherford and surrounding Parker County towns, Fort Worth, Dallas, Mineral Wells, Stephenville and from as far away as San Jose, Calif., and Kokomo, Ind.

“The two-hour show ended with patrons begging for more,” said theater co-owner Marilyn Carter.

Carter said this was the first show featuring the new sound system recently installed in the theater.

“The acoustics have always been awesome but the addition of some upgraded equipment just enhanced the sound even better,” she said.

A number of shows are coming to the Texas Opry Theater stage:

Johnny Rogers, from Chicago, is bringing his “Buddy and Beyond” show, a tribute to Buddy Holly, on June 15. On June 22, The Parker County Live Show will feature the former ZZ Top bassist  “Cadillac Jones.”

On June 29, two sons of two legendary country music icons will take the stage at The Texas Opry Theater when Boxcar Willie Jr., son of the world’s favorite hobo from Branson, Mo., and Tommy Horton returns with his tribute to the late but great Johnny Horton. There will be a special appearance by Chisai Childs, one of the architects of the Branson music scene. The Made In Texas Showtime Band, formerly known as The Granbury Live Band, will back up these three great performers.
