Buddy Holly tribute to kick off four weeks of shows at Texas Opry Theater

Celebrating 50 years in country music, Gene Watson returning to Weatherford for July 6th show

(Continued)

Then on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 3 p.m. is Box Car Willie Jr., son of Box Car Willie, “The World’s Favorite Hobo.” Box Car Willie Jr. will pay tribute to his famous father and Tommy Horton will pay tribute to Johnny Horton along with with Chisai Childs (founder of the Grapevine Opry with Johnny High and one of the original architects of Branson music scene). Mike Edmonson will emcee the show and the Opry’s own Amazing Made In Texas Showtime Band (formerly the Granbury Live Band).

On Saturday, July 6, Gene Watson returns to the Texas Opry Theater stage. The show featuring Watson and the Farewell Party Band will begin at 3 p.m.

Watson is celebrating his 50th year in country music and his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Watson has appeared at the Texas Opry Theater several times between 2002 and 2006 and has always sold out the theater. This time will be no different especially since his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. This year marks the Golden Anniversary of Gene Watson, one of our greatest living country vocalists.

Performances such as “Fourteen Carat Mind,” “Love in the Hot Afternoon,” “Farewell Party,” “Memories to Burn,” “Got No Reason Now for Going Home,” “Speak Softly,” “Paper Rosie” and “Sometimes I Get Lucky and Forget” have forged Gene Watson’s reputation as a “Singer’s Singer.” He is the envy of his peers and the idol of such younger performers as Joe Nichols, Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack and Randy Travis.

Opening Watson’s show will be The Amazing Made in Texas Showtime Band with Sean Mitchell, Mike Echols, Christian Hutton, Roger Ramsey, Josh Rodgers and more with a preview of their next big show on Aug. 17.

Tickets for all four shows can be purchased by going to www.texasoprytheater.com or calling 817-341-1000.
