Stolen truck found in lake

Staff Report

A truck reported stolen out of Fort Worth was found Sunday in the larger lake at Western Lake Estates and pulled from the water, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

Spotted by a man fishing in the lake on Saturday, the Dodge Dakota truck was located about 30 yards from the boat ramp in the 4900 block of Lake Shore Trail, according to a deputy waved down by the complainant Sunday afternoon.

House fire

The Weatherford Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 808 S. Sloan in Weatherford around 3 p.m. Monday.  The cause of the fire was undetermined Monday but was confined to a bedroom on the second floor of the home, according to Weatherford Fire Marshal Bob Hopkins.  No one was believed to have been home when the fire started. However, when one homeowner returned, he reportedly saw light smoke coming from the second story window.  He reported that he entered the home and found hazy smoke on the second floor and called the fire department immediately. The fire was contained to a small area in the corner of a bedroom and was quickly extinguished by firefighters, Hopkins reported.  No one was injured and the damage was light to minimal.

This same family reportedly had another fire in the home two months ago that was determined to be electrical.

Church burglarized

A church in the 200 block of Pearson Lane Saturday morning reported a burglary. Numerous items were reported removed from the church during the prior 36 hours, a responding Parker County sheriff’s deputy wrote.

An 18-year-old complainant reported that he parked a red 2001 Chevrolet four-door truck around 8 a.m. and returned around 1 p.m. to find the vehicle missing.
