A Springtown-area man was killed in a one vehicle rollover Saturday afternoon in northeast Parker County.
Clayton Joshua King, 22, of Springtown, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 100 block of Hilltop Meadows Drive shortly after 2 p.m., according to officials.
King was driving a 1998 Ford F150 pickup northbound on Hilltop Meadows Drive around 1:30 p.m. when he left the roadway, struck a mailbox and went into the east bar ditch, according to Texas Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Gary Rozzell, who added that the vehicle then went airborne and landed on the driver’s side.
The wreck occurred in a 30 mph area and King was reported to be wearing his seatbelt, Rozzell said.
“It was a horriffic scene,” Janice Boss, who was first on scene, said. “He was alive when I got there but passed while the helicopter was en route.”
Based on officer statements, Boss believes speed may have been a factor.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled King’s death an accident as a result of multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle accident with rollover.
Further information on the cause of the wreck was not available Monday.
