WEATHERFORD — By CHRISTIN COYNE

A former Parker County Jail employee was arrested Tuesday after a Parker County grand jury indicted him earlier this month on charges of sexually abusing inmates.

Tyson Earl Amstutz, 29, was indicted May 1 on two counts of violating the civil rights of a person in custody.

According to the indictment, Amstutz is accused of engaging in sexual contact with two inmates on or around March 14.

It was not clear when the complaint was made.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the Texas Rangers were notified and conducted the criminal investigation and Amstutz was immediately let go.

Information on his position and dates of employment were not immediately available from the jail.

Amstutz was booked into the Parker County Jail Tuesday on the charges and released Wednesday afternoon on $10,000 bond.

The Democrat attempted to reach Amstutz for comment but did not receive a response Wednesday afternoon.
