Group plans events to benefit Okla. storm victims

You've Been Tagged is a non-profit organization located here in Weatherford.

The group is planning three local events over the next three weeks to support the victims of the storms in Oklahoma. All proceeds from these events will go to those in need. The group is coordinating with an organization in Oklahoma and will be traveling there mid-June to distribute all donations properly and as needed.

“We are asking for help from the community to make these events a success, so that we can help rebuild the lives of those that are starting over after losing so much,” said Desiree Stokely.

The first event is this Saturday with a car wash at Compass Bank, 2817 Fort Worth Highway, in Hudson Oaks. This will be a free car wash accepting donations. To donate any items for the car wash  contact Stokely at the phone number below.

The other two events are Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1. One event will be located at First Monday grounds.

“We will be raffling off items donated from local businesses,” Stokely said. “There will also be glitter art and other activities.”

“Items are needed for this event,” she said. “If you are interested in donating any items for this event they would be greatly appreciated.”

The other event is a benefit sale at 1507 Franklin St. in Weatherford. There will also be a bounce house for the children while you shop.

“We are solely relying on donations from the community. We are asking for all of your unwanted items. Drop-off location is the same as the sale location. If you need items picked up, please contact me and we will make arrangements to get them picked up,” said Stokely.

Other donations such as hygiene supplies, blankets, non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, clothes, dishes, shoes, books and diapers are also requested.

“We have two large trailers that we would like to fill and a goal of $5,000 that we would like to raise, to donate” she said. “Let's come together as one community to another and make a difference in someone else's life.”

To make donations of money or items, or for more information, contact Stokely at (682) 229-5339. Receipts for donations will be given upon request and may be used for tax purposes.
