A new venue brought out the biggest crowd ever for the 6th Annual Taste of Parker County Thursday night.
Canyon West Golf Course was the site of the event, which brought out an estimated 300 people to help benefit the Weatherford College Foundation.
“This is our best crowd by far since we’ve had the event,” WC Vice President Brent Baker said. “We’ve had a lot of great food tonight and people have liked the venue.”
Baker said the event was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Richard and Nancy Stuart of the course, who Baker said “bent over backward for us” to ensure the event came off without a hitch.
Proceeds from the event go toward scholarship monies for the school. Baker said thanks to a grant, every dollar raised during Taste of Parker County will be matched. No dollar amount on how much was raised was available as of press time.
More than 20 restaurants and catering groups used the pavilion and clubhouse to display their wide variety of food, drinks and desserts and chat up customers. Larry Devine, of Decatur, said the new venue was nice and allowed people to enjoy the nice weather.
“You can’t beat this,” Devine said as he sampled some of the food. “Great food. Great venue. Great people.”
Voters dropped off ballots for their favorite restaurant’s food of the evening.
