A man accused of attempting to stab a family member with a 6-inch hunting knife was arrested Thursday.

Michael Sherman Scott, 56, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

He remained in the Parker County Jail as of Friday evening with bond set at $35,000.

According to a deputy dispatched to the 200 block of Old Agnes Road on May 30, a man told him that he got into an argument with Scott over their dogs when Scott told him to leave and the man told Scott no.

Scott then pulled a 6-inch hunting knife from his pocket and told the man that he was going to kill him, the man reportedly told the deputy.

Scott lunged at the man with the knife while the man was bent over restraining his dog, the man told the deputy.

The man was able to move out of the way but Scott reportedly continued to threaten to kill him so he ran away and called the police, the complainant said.
