More quakes shake the area

3.1 magnitude earthquake reported just after midnight Friday near Reno

RENO -- The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 3.1 magnitude earthquake early Friday morning in northeast Parker County.

The quake took place at 12:14 a.m. and was centered 6 kilometers, or 3.7 miles, southwest of Reno, according to the USGS. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake brings to 22 the number of earthquakes recorded in the area in November.

Friday morning's earthquake follows two that occurred early Thursday morning about 10 miles north of Mineral Wells.

The first registered a 2.8 magnitude and came shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday. A scale used by the USGS describes a 2.8 magnitude earhquake as a vibration feeling like the passage of light trucks. The second, at 2.41 a.m. Thursday, checked in as a 3.6-magnitude quake, a vibration feeling like passing of heavy trucks.

No damage or injuries were reported.
