Morgan re-arrested for contacting minor

Authorities say photographer violated conditions of bond after release

From Staff Reports

A Weatherford sports photographer arrested Tuesday on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact was rearrested Friday, accused of violating the terms of his bond conditions.

Parker County Sheriff’s Office authorities say Dax Anthony Morgan, 39, posted $25,000 and was released Tuesday, then “immediately made contact with a 15-year-old female child.”

“These actions placed him in direct violation of his bond conditions set forth by the court,” Sheriff Larry Fowler said.

The sheriff said bond conditions for Morgan were set specifically forbidding him from making any form of contact with children under the age of 17 outside of his residence and who are unrelated to Morgan. Morgan’s bond conditions also reportedly restricted him from having contact with a person under the age of 17 including through social media, Web-based messaging, email, text or by phone.

Morgan signed his bond conditions prior to his release from jail, agreeing he would adhere to the court orders.

Sheriff’s investigators obtained a warrant for Morgan’s arrest and the Weatherford-Parker County Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (FAST)executed the warrant Friday afternoon.

As of Saturday afternoon, Morgan remained incarcerated in the Parker County Jail.

Due to the nature of the case and ongoing investigation, further information pertaining to the case against Morgan will not be released, according to a sheriff’s department statement.

Morgan was arrested Tuesday on a charge he molested a 16-year-old Weatherford High School student, who reportedly went to his house for a private photo shoot without her parents’ knowledge.

The girl said Morgan took photographs of her while clothed and unclothed and inappropriately touched her while giving her a full body massage.

After news of Morgan’s initial arrest, several parents contacted the Democrat saying they made to police and school district officials last year concerning inappropriate behavior and comments Morgan reportedly made to and about young girls. Weatherford police officials reportedly told parents they were unable to take any action based on Morgan’s alleged comments and actions to that point. The parents also said the school district took no action to remove Morgan from contact with students at events despite complaints from multiple families. The district has not commented on the parents’ allegations.

Morgan operates a photography business called Touchline Studios and took photographs of school events for a local magazine. He held a sideline press pass issued by Weatherford ISD because of his credentials through the magazine, and was on the sidelines of many school events for years. WISD officials said Morgan was issued a criminal trespass warning this week to prevent him from attending sports-related events.
