Shooting arrest made

Suspect on parole charged with shooting woman in May

From Staff Reports

Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team members on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with a May shooting.

Around 9 p.m. on May 16, investigators with the Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division were contacted when a 38-year-old female was brought to a local hospital with apparent gunshot wounds to her left arm and chest.

The incident was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Opal Drive. Witnesses reported an undisclosed female dropped the victim off at a local hospital and then left. Because of the severity of her injuries, the victim was transferred to a Fort Worth hospital.

Sheriff’s investigators identified the suspect as Gabriel Castillo, 46, identified as an acquaintance of the victim. Investigators obtained a warrant for Castillo and FAST members discovered his vehicle at a gas station in Waxahachie. Castillo was taken into custody Wednesday and returned to Parker County.

Castillo remains incarcerated at the Parker County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a parole violation. His bond was set at $75,000 for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. No bond amount was set for Castillo for the parole violation charge.

Sheriff’s investigators are seeking an additional warrant on Castillo for possession of a firearm by a felon.
