County readies to put court’s meetings online

Commissioners Court meetings could be available to view on county’s website by summer

By BRIAN SMITH

Commissioners Court meetings will be found on the Internet this summer after approval by the court during Monday morning’s meeting.

County Judge Mark Riley said staff has been looking into finding a company to do this. Riley said having the meetings online will aid with being transparent with county business and go along with what many entities are doing.

The recordings will be kept by an off-site server at a cost of $300 a month. Making sure the county has the proper equipment to produce good quality recordings will be needed before the project can start. Riley said the meetings should begin being posted sometime this summer.

Bond updates

In other activity, an update on work concerning the Transportation Bond was provided by engineering firm Freese & Nichols. Morgan McIlwain, with the firm, said drainage improvements along Farm-to-Market Road 1187 were focused on during January and February in Precinct 1. Improvements to Maddux Road were focused in Precinct 2.

McIlwain said bids for the I-20 interchange project with Ric Williamson Memorial Highway are expected to be opened this week.  In Precinct 4, placing a storm drain on the west side of Farm-to-Market Road 1187 and finalizing the alignment options for the eastern part of the loop were finished.

The court also accepted a construction bond for $296,900 for a subdivision to be known as Aledo Estates Phase II, located in Weatherford’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, northeast of Willow Park on Dominique Drive.

The City of Weatherford requires that a construction bond must be shown before final approval of a plat is given, according to County Attorney John Forrest. Once the bond is presented to the court, Forrest will send a letter to the City of Weatherford that it is in hand and work can progress.

Of the money, $135,000 will go toward streets in the new subdivision with the rest going toward culvert and drainage work. The subdivision was developed back in 2004 or 2005.
