Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst will be the featured speaker and Parker County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner March 23.
Tickets are now on sale for the event, scheduled for the Parker Room atop Fire Oak Grill, 114 Austin Ave. on the downtown square in Weatherford. A general reception is scheduled for 7 p.m. with dinner slated for 7:30 p.m.
Parker County Republican Party Chair Zan Prince said getting a big-name speaker for the event happens frequently because of the closeness with state officials.
“We’ve had many elected officials come and speak at this event, which is the main fundraiser for the party each year,” Prince said. “Because of the relations we have with many of our elected officials, they are very gracious with their time and we appreciate it.”
Dewhurst has been in the county before, speaking at a town hall meeting a few years back.
Every dollar raised during the dinner and subsequent silent auction stays in the county for the support of the county office as well as the Get Out the Vote program for local elections, Prince said. Many of the auction items, which are still being accepted, will be unique with a political humor to them, such as bullet shaped ice cube trays, White House ornaments, books signed by politicians and others. Anyone with an item to donate to the silent auction can drop it by the party office, 200 Palo Pinto St. in Weatherford.
“It’s going to just be a political love fest,” Prince said.
Hard copy invitations were sent out earlier this week. Individual and table reservations are available. Please forward responses and payment to PCRP, 200 Palo Pinto, Weatherford, TX 76086 before March 18. The event is being held at a more intimate venue this year, which seats just 140, so early reservations are encouraged, Prince said.
Business attire for the event is encouraged. For more information, call 817-594-5029.
