Dave Croff is Weatherford’s new finance director/chief financial officer.

Croff comes to town after having spent five years as the finance director in Madera, Calif., a city of about 66,000 people in the Central Valley of the state. Croff said he and his wife have been to the Metroplex many times and their daughter lived in San Antonio for a time, but this is their first time to live in Texas.

“We wanted out of California and to be able to have a place to retire,” Croff, who began with the city Oct. 14, said. “In Texas, the price of real estate is affordable, so when I saw the job posting, I put in an application to get the process going, interviewed in early October and here I am.”

Croff also spent 23 years in Provo, Utah, starting as accounting manager before moving up to city treasurer and assistant finance director. Despite being here a short time, Croff says he has found the city to be in good financial condition and its staff to be doing a great job.

“We have a number of different projects that we’re working on and I’m finding it a great place to be,” Croff, who received his bachelor’s in Business Administration from San Diego State University, said.

Croff said he is looking to make some changes to help things run smoother and more efficiently in the department and said he is glad to be here in town.
