— BROCK – Herman V. Stroud, 81, of the Dennis community, died suddenly of heart failure Thursday evening, Dec. 12, 2013, at his residence.
Service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Spring Creek Baptist Church on State Highway 51 South. Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Tin Top and was a resident of Parker County all his life. Herman was a graduate of Weatherford High School. He worked at Bell Helicopter as a final inspection supervisor for 29 years. He left Bell to start Spring Creek Embryo Farms with his son, Dr. Brad Stroud. Herman had been in the ranching business for the last 30 years and was a member of the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse for 25 years, a member of the Black Angus Cattle Association and of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Feagin Stroud; two sons, Van Stroud and wife, Beth, and Brad Stroud and wife, Mendee; brothers, Norris Stroud and Eddy Stroud; sisters, Ruth Hurt, Naomie Turk, Flo Williams and Ola Culwell; five grandchildren, Tammy Garner, Justin Stroud, Todd Stroud, Katie Cross and Chase Stroud; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie and Lewis Stroud; a brother, James; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruby and Lawrence Feagin.
