James Langford, age 83, of the Authon Community, died early Monday morning, July 1, 2013, in a local nursing facility.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in the Authon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Brandon, Texas, James was a resident of Authon and Parker County for many years. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Coca Cola Bottling Company, former Chief of the Authon Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Methodist Church and a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War earning the Bronze Star. He loved fiddle music and playing the guitar at jams with family and friends. For many years he traveled the state to play at Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association contests. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Langford and his parents, Lucile and Horace Langford, Sr.
Survivors: wife, Wanda Langford, of Authon; daughter, Alice Youngblood, of Weatherford; brother, M. H. Langford, Jr., of Weatherford; grandchildren, April Williams, Clay Youngblood, Crystal Youngblood, Tori Rutledge, Cara Tayon and Brandon Langford; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; close friend and brother-in-law, Ronald Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
