Mary C. Horner

OTOE, Neb. – Mary C. Horner, 88, of Otoe, Neb., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center.

Graveside service was Oct. 9 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Neb.

She was born June 17, 1925, to George and Mae (McCall) Cokinos in Perry, Fla. Mary married Clarence V. Horner on Dec. 10, 1944, in Perry and to this union they had three children, Risa, Martha and John. Mary was involved with the Garden Club and Episcopal Women.

She is survived by her children, Risa and Jerry Harris, of Longview, Martha and Cameron Cummins, of Tulsa, Okla., and John and Cathy Horner, of Otoe, Neb.; grandchildren, Shannon Van Stroud, of Austin, James M. Singleton V, of Los Angeles, Calif., Anne Lauren Caldwell, of Austin, Jason James Lanier, of Dallas, Crista Gabrielle Decker, of Lincoln, Neb., John Chauncey Horner III, of Lincoln, and Jacob Daniel Horner, of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Madison Caldwell, Timothy Caldwell, Julian Horner, Griffin Horner, Maxwell and Lyle Lanier, Harris Jones, Houston Jones, Alexis McDonald, Julia McDonald, Mary Aldon Harris and Houston E. Harris Jr.; sisters, Georgia Haynes, of Richardson, Carolyn McCall of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Betty Horner Gilfert of Otoe, Neb.; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence V. Horner; son, Michael Horner; sister, Dorothea Benthal; and brother, Bill Cokinos.

Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center.
