Tom Stockstill

Tom Stockstill, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.

Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

Tom was born March 9, 1924, in Walters, Okla. to B.E. and Hettie Stockstill. He married Mary Chisolm in Strawn on Oct. 4, 1947. Tom spent six years in the United States Navy, where he served in the South Pacific, participating in Crossroads Atom Bomb Test, and two years at Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, Md. He was employed for 22 years at General Dynamics and then spent 18 years in the City of Weatherford Water Department as plant superintendent.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; son, Craig and wife, Kathy, of New Braunfels; daughter, Mary Jo Medcalf, of Weatherford; grandson, Chandon Gray and wife, Leslie, of Tolar; granddaughter, Kristi Gold and husband, Brian, of Harwood; and great-grandsons, Joseph and Chet Thomas Gold.

Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn; his parents; sisters, Dorothea DeShane, Moncie Gray and Ruth Moore; and brother, Bill Stockstill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society or March of Dimes.
