Carol Ann Heizer Cory Steadman

WEATHERFORD —

Beloved mother, aunt, cousin and friend, Carol Ann Heizer Cory Steadman, 71, of Lovettsville, Virginia, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Blue Ridge Hospice In-patient Care Center in Winchester, Virginia. 

She was born March 9, 1943, the daughter of Albert and Helen Pearson Heizer, in Columbus, Ohio.

An avid singer and performer, Carol sang throughout her life performing in community theater productions, variety shows and as a featured soloist with numerous church choirs in Columbus, Ohio, Memphis, Tennessee and Plano, Texas. Carol truly found her voice singing lead as a member of the 5-time International Champion “Rich-Tone Chorus” of Richardson, Texas. Carol devoted over 25 years to the Sweet Adelines International women’s barbershop chorus, contributing to their championships won in 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2006. Painting, calligraphy, travel and visiting with friends and family were among her other passions.

Surviving Carol are her son, Kevin Crane-Cory and his wife, Julie, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her son, Mark Cory, his wife, Jennifer, and her two granddaughters, Sarah and Emily, of Bridgeport, West Virginia; a brother, George Jones, his wife, Pat, of Morristown, Tennessee; her niece, Debi Ratcliff; and nephews, Byron and Kent Jones. Surviving cousins include Cheryl Porter and Sandy Roser, of Hillsboro, Ohio, Fran Downs of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Joycellen Garrett of Lakeland, Florida.

In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Jones; a nephew, Bradley Jones; and a cousin, Margie Simon.

A memorial service will be held at Harwood Christian Church in Lynchburg, Ohio on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11 a.m.
