Oleane was born on Sept. 7, 1922, in Henderson County to Jacob Esau and Gladys Oleane Sealy Anthony. She married Billy Frank Downing on June 8, 1940. They were married for 50 years until he passed away in 1990. Most of her adult life was spent in Fort Worth. Oleane loved Jesus our Lord and loved doing His work through her church where she held many positions, including Sunday school teacher, youth leader, women’s missionary leader and deacon’s wife. She volunteered for Harris Hospital in Fort Worth for many years, and chaired the volunteers for a time. Upon Bill’s retirement and after the three girls graduated from high school, they relocated to Weatherford, where she once again became very involved in church and community. On Dec. 14, 1991, Oleane married longtime friend, J.B. Parten, and they continued to be actively involved in their church home, First Baptist Church, Weatherford. She was always interested and involved in her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives. Oleane was loving, caring, giving, vivacious, energetic and fun-loving, and always a beautiful lady.
