Ross Lindy Fincher, 86, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2014, in Weatherford.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Born Aug. 30, 1927, in Dallas, Ross was one of two boys raised by William and Anabelle Fincher. Ross served our country in the Korean War and in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree and worked as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace field for both Vought Aircrafts and S-Tec Manufacturing.
Ross met Joyce Gahagan briefly in Fort Worth, and they reconnected again and married in 1975. They moved their blended family to Weatherford in 1980 to get out of the city. Ross and Joyce were members of New River Fellowship Church and enjoyed their time together traveling. Ross was a member of the Weatherford American Legion Lodge No. 163. Family was very important to Ross. Any spare time not working was spent outdoors, helping people and cooking. He was a dog lover and called them “his girls.” Ross spent the last 33 years of his life as a Weatherford resident and he will be greatly missed.
Ross leaves behind his bride of more than 39 years, Joyce Fincher; sons, James Fincher and wife, Minda, of Georgia; Richard Fincher and wife, Nancy, of California, Dennis Fincher and wife, Karen, of Cedar Park, Kevin Gahagan and wife, Debbie, of Fort Worth, Allen Scott Gahagan, of Saginaw, and Michael Gahagan and wife, Deborah, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Allan Ross Gahagan, Malinda Garner, Brent Gahagan, Ashley Wallace, LuRena Gahagan; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anabelle Fincher; and his brother, Billy Fincher.
