— Ima Dee Stevens, 100, a longtime resident of Parker County, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Weatherford.

Service is 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Dr. David George will officiate. Interment will be in Dilbeck Cemetery in Peaster. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ima Dee Stevens was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Whitt. She was the first of three daughters born to the late Starks N. and Dovie Jane Blakney Smith. She graduated from North Texas Teachers College and married Archie Stevens, also from Parker County. Together they made their careers in education in many towns across Texas, and both retired from Fort Worth ISD.

Ima Dee loved gardening, participating in club activities and playing 42 with her friends. She was a member of the Twentieth Century Club, the Business and Professional Women’s organization, Parker County Retired Teachers Association, the Weatherford Garden Club and Kappa Kappa Iota Professional Sorority. Ima Dee was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford for nearly 60 years.

Ima Dee is survived by her sister, Alma Reldon McClendon; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Ima Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Stevens; her parents; and her sister, Marjorie Briggs.

Mrs. Stevens’ family suggests contributions in Ima Dee’s name to a charity of your choice.
