WEATHERFORD — Gary Wayne Cox, 69, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his home peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Connell Baptist Church, 4736 Bryce Ave., Fort Worth, officiated by Dr. Mark Riley. Interment to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Baumgardner Funeral Home.
Gary was a very proud “GPop” and loving husband, father and brother.
He was born to Ray and Edith Cox on Nov. 20, 1944. Gary was a proud graduate of Arlington Heights High School, class of 1963. He would go on to serve in the U.S. Army in Germany and Vietnam from 1966-1969. Gary retired from the Fort Worth Fire Department in 2004 after 35 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Miller Cox; mother, Edith Cox; brother, Ray Carl Cox; and sisters, Judy Gerrow and Janis Cox Day.
Survivors: wife, Peggy Cox; daughter, Lana Johnson and husband, Doug, of Southlake; stepdaughters, Teresa Chilcutt, of Weatherford, Melissa Sanderson, of Decatur; stepson, Scott Chilcutt and wife, Tiffany, of Midlothian; sister-in-law, Sissy Cox, of Austin; previous wife and friend, Sally Cox, of Willow Park; grandchildren, Breanna Howard, Jake and McKenzie Johnson, Bailee Chilcutt, Madison Chilcutt, Kameron Poirot, Luke Johnson; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Howard; niece; nephews; and many cousins.
