— Lawrence “Pete” Hunter, 89, died peacefully at home, Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford.

Pete had an amazing and full life, starting with serving in World War II on the Oriental Odyssey, with the Air Group 2 as an ammunitions ordnance man. He then began a 32-year career in the Fort Worth Fire Department. After retiring from the department, Pete later became an entrepreneur, owning several businesses then working and living on his ranch in Weatherford. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and fishing.

Survivors include his loving daughters, Mary Jane Wooten, of Weatherford, Mae and Thomas Jones, of Fort Worth, and Gail Hunter, of Fort Worth; sister, Curtis Louise “Sister” Hatfield; grandsons, Tony Harrington and wife, Dee Dee, and Brian Harrington and wife, Doris; granddaughters, Natalie and Ronnie Stanford and Sonya Killgo; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
