Orva Lou Jones, 89, beloved mother and friend, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, with her loving family by her side.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at First United Methodist Church of Weatherford, 301 S. Main St., Weatherford. Interment will be in Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. She is now with her Lord.
Orva Lou Brabson Jones was born July 13, 1924, to the late Orville Houston and Edna Lou Smith Brabson, in Dennis. She became a war bride when she met and married H.E. “Gene” Jones in Weatherford on April 22, 1943. She and Gene lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Seattle, Wash., before he was shipped overseas. Orva Lou loved to garden and was wonderful with flowers. She loved to play 80 and cards with friends from the senior center. Orva Lou always loved to look after and loved the neighbor’s children and she opened her home during the holidays, as all were welcome. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Weatherford.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Lane and husband, Keith, of Irving; and a host of loving family, church family and friends.
Orva Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Eugene “Gene” Jones, in 1994; and her parents.
