Fern Coalson Hudson

Fern Coalson Hudson, age 101, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. There will be a visitation at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street Weatherford, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, from 4-6 p.m. 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Bethesda Cemetery, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 6657 N. FM 113, Weatherford.

Fern was born Feb. 16, 1912, to Vines and Mattie Coalson, in Garner. She was one of seven children: Gladys, Wayne, Brooks, Lem, Fern, Marshall and Lou. Fern married D.R. Hudson on Nov. 25, 1937, and was married for 63 years before D.R. died on June 19, 2000. She taught school in Mineral Wells at Sam Houston Elementary for 35 years. Fern was active in many organizations, D.A.R. and Eastern Star, and was a charter member of the Weatherford Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Hudson Owen and her husband, Jerry, of Arlington; grandson, Chris Owen, of Weatherford; great-grandson, Harley Owen, of Weatherford; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial: Bethesda United Methodist Church, Weatherford College or Covenant Hospice.
