— Manuel Wayne Pickering, 85, of Brock, died Monday, May 13, 2013, in a local nursing center.

Masonic graveside service is 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Brock Cemetery. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born May 23, 1927, in Blaire, Okla., he was a resident of Parker County for many years. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 40 years. He was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church and Southwestern Cattlemen’s Association, was a 51-year member of the Masonic Order and an endowed member of the Brock Olive Branch Masonic Lodge. Mr. Pickering was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pickering, of Brock; daughters, Karon Pickering, of Biloxi, Miss., and Gretchen Buckanan, of Helotes; sons, David Pickering, of Brock, and James Pickering, of Everman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Glenda Atchley and husband, Tom, of Wanette, Okla., and Nancy Pickering, of Seminole, Okla.
